My first blog!

My first blog: how exciting!

Today, the 5th September, is not only my birthday (21 again!!), but my first deputation.

I accompanied Royalene to visit a church in Quakers Hill where we were able to share the mission of GRN. I really enjoyed it for a number of reasons. Firstly, I strongly believe in the vision and mission of GRN. To be part of a mission that goes into the whole world and preaches the gospel, in their heart language is so exciting. To hear of people responding to the message of Christ with open hearts and minds is what keeps one motivated.

I'm a writer/journalist. I am not trekking through the desolate Himalayas or wrestling Anacondas in the Amazon jungle to further the spread of God's word, but in my way I am contributing. I am sharing my God given gift of writing with GRN, to enable them to do the hard yards.

Secondly, I love meeting God's people. The Reverend that we met was a funny, outgoing and friendly man. In actual fact, he was so “unreverendly” that I was surprised. Rather than highlight his uniqueness, it highlighted my narrow mindedness and expectation of how a Minister should be. It reminded me of the religiosity that unfortunately is still so deeply set in me. Definitely another thing the Lord wil need to work on. Actually... if He ever has time to get to it after sorting through the layers of other issues. Lucky He has eternity on His side!
